TechEd 2010 - Day Two
Tuesday, June 8, 2010
Not as much fun stuff going on today as it was the first full day of sessions and we made sure we took full advantage by attending all five timeslots from 8am till 6:15pm. The content and presenters were quite good; I feel much smarter now.
There were marginal improvements to the breakfast and lunch but they remained quite unimpressive.
Lunch was two and a half hours long today so we had a lot of time to walk around the partner expo looking for more swag. We were more selective today but still came away with a bag full of stuff. The quest for freebies did not come without disappointment, however, as we watched an extremely long demo because we heard they were giving out Calvin Klein shirts at the end. After a twenty minutes, we were given the T-shirts we were promised. Upon closer inspection however, the shirts turned out to be printed with the face of SQL Server MVP, "Kevin Kline" (and, no, not _this _Kevin Kline)... Oh well!
We had been really good at finding free food the past couple of days. So tonight we resumed our quest for New Orlean's finest cuisine by going to the highly-rated Acme Oyster House. It's basically a regular bar that serves oysters and prices were very reasonable. The oysters were small but not bad...
While the crawfish at Acme made Matt's day, the highlight of the day for me was playing Guitar Hero with a Guitar Hero celebrity, Annie Leung. She's really good and easily beat me by three times my score. But I'm surprised I didn't lose by more, as I was hardly paying attention to what was going on on the screen.
