TechEd 2010 - Day Three
Wednesday, June 9, 2010
Another long day at the conference… we went to four sessions and did some hands-on labs.
The breakfasts remained a shameful exercise in frugality, although Matt noticed that those who requested “special” meals were given fruit and hot breakfasts. I guess fruit is “special” here in America. The lunches, on the other hand, are slowly getting better… yesterday we had some decent pulled pork sandwiches, and today there was a rather delectable crawfish pasta salad. I actually went for seconds!
And to bring back memories of TechEd in previous years, they actually had an ice cream cart today. Unfortunately the cart was manned by an ice cream nazi and I had to settle for only one ice cream sandwich.
Our swag count was zero today, although we did receive a coupon to redeem for a free book tomorrow.
After a nice dinner tonight, we went for our nightly stroll down Bourbon Street, hoping to experience more of the crazy festivities that we witnessed on Saturday. Unfortunately, for the forth night in a row, we went home disappointed. The streets were filled with fellow TechEd’ers, who were quickly becoming easier to spot because they were proudly wearing those stylish free conference t-shirts we all worked so hard to get. The more fashion-savvy ones were even wearing their conference backpacks and name badges.
Matt took some videos of the Street for his wife, but he chose to record the Disney version as he skillfully left out all the “good parts”. But that’s okay, I had my camera too… watch for the uncut version on YouTube here next week.
Big day tomorrow. It’s another long one with five sessions. The 10 hours of educational fun will be followed by a closing party which, with 13,000 mostly-male conference attendees, promises to be… ummm… interesting.
