TechEd 2010 - Day One

Monday, June 7, 2010

The first day of the conference got off to a rough start when I missed my alarm and got up late. Then we were greeted at the conference centre with the weakest breakfast in the history of weak conference breakfasts. This is literally all they had to offer...

The keynote was not bad. There was a pretty good local band who played before the keynote but the crowd was totally not into it. The keynote was given by Bob Muglia.

We learned a couple of things during the keynote... James Cameron says Avatar wouldn't have been possible without Microsoft. And Microsoft software do not crash, but rather they occasionally "deliver a less-than-optimal performance".

Lunch, which was slightly more acceptable than breakfast

The internet connectivity at the conference "delivered less-than-optimal performance" during much of the afternoon

There are lots of vendors at the conference who are happy to give out swag in exchange for your contact info. Needless to say, Matt and I will be getting a lot of phone calls when we return (yes, one of them gave me a dollar bill)...
