TechEd 2010 – Day Four: Geeks Gone Wild!
Thursday, June 10, 2010
It was the last day of the conference today. It turned out to be a very successful day for swag as I won a $50 gift card. Matt won something too, or maybe he didn’t… he told me not to say.
I received a complaint from one of my three readers that I didn’t post enough photos yesterday. So today’s post will be heavier on photos and lighter on words…
The massive meal hall
A sea of men hoping to win a camera and a super bike
Tonight was the conference’s closing party at Mardi Gras World. With the ridiculously high male:female ratio, it promised to be a huge sausage fest, and it didn’t disappoint. Combined with yet more horrible food and the lack of air conditioning, we couldn’t wait to get out of there. To be fair, it looked like many people actually had a good time.
There were a few stages set up with some local acts that were actually not bad
Nothing says “party” like a room full of Xboxes and comfy chairs
We had enough of the party after an hour so we headed to Bourbon Street for one last walk about. But tonight was one of the quieter nights there. We got a famous drink called the Hurricane from Pat O’Brien’s and drank it while walking the Street. On our way back to the hotel we came across some people playing music and dancing… taking over a block on Bourbon Street. That was actually really cool…
Tomorrow morning we’re going for some more sightseeing and then we’ll head to the airport for our flight home. I think we’re both ready to come home. Our brains are full from all the learning, our stomachs are sick of the crappy conference food, and our livers are exhausted from all the booze.
One last look at my swag drawer and stack of shirts…
