Feasting in New Orleans

Sunday, June 6, 2010

It turns out Bourbon Street is only really crazy on Saturday nights, so there's not a whole lot do in New Orleans today. But fear not, as there's a lot of food waiting to be eaten, and that's what we did.

We started the day with breakfast at Cafe du Monde. We had their world famous beignets. They are French donuts smothered in icing sugar and they were really good...

We then went to Johnny's Po Boys to eat some po boy sandwiches...

After that, we checked out the New Orleans Oyster Festival. We ate some crawfish cakes, grilled oysters, and I had this really delicious oyster rockerfella bisque. Mmmm...

For dinner, we went to "Party with Palermo" at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville put on by the noted .NET speaker and author, Jeffrey Palermo. For $10, we got a free drink and a decent dinner. We were joined by lots of geeks like us who love to talk about technology.
